Speaking Genie is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information when you use our AI-powered language learning platform. This policy also describes how our app uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology and how your data is handled in relation to AI features.

This policy is available in English, Arabic and Spanish. If the versions differ, the English version applies.

Speaking Genie uses AI technology to provide interactive language learning conversations. Here is how AI is used in our app:

AI Conversations

The app allows you to practice language skills by having conversations with AI-powered characters. The text of your conversation messages is sent to our own servers (operated by Speaking Genie) to generate AI responses. Only the conversation text is sent — no personal data such as your name, email, or account information is included in AI processing.

Speech-to-Text

Voice input is converted to text using your device's built-in speech recognition capabilities. This processing occurs on your device.

Text-to-Speech

AI-generated text responses are converted to speech entirely on your device using an on-device model. No audio data is sent to any external server for this purpose.

Important: Speaking Genie does not send any of your personal data (such as your name, email address, account details, or any personally identifiable information) to any third-party AI service. All AI processing is performed on our own servers or on your device.

Speaking Genie does not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We share it in two cases only: when you accept cookies on our website, our analytics and advertising providers (Google and Meta) receive data about how you use the website; and when you take part in Speak to Hire and agree to the sharing described in section 3.1.

  • We do not share your personal information with third-party AI services.
  • We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
  • We do not give your account or practice data to advertisers or marketing companies. Meta receives data about your use of our website only if you accept cookies there.
  • AI processing happens on our own servers or on your device.
  • If you join Speak to Hire, we share the details listed in section 3.1 with our hiring partners, with your consent.

Speak to Hire is a Speaking Genie program of 30 hours of speaking practice within 30 days. When you finish it, we introduce you to our hiring partners, who are companies that hire for roles where speaking matters, such as customer service.

What we share. When you complete the program, we share these details with our hiring partners:

  • your name and contact details (email address and phone number);
  • your speaking-hours certificate and your verified practice hours;
  • your certified CEFR level;
  • your Commitment Score, which shows how consistently you practiced;
  • the language you practiced in;
  • your final program results.

We do not share your password, the text or audio of your practice conversations, or your payment details.

When we share. Only after you finish the program. If you do not complete it, we do not introduce you to hiring partners. Pre-registering for a future round does not share anything with hiring partners.

Why we share. So that hiring partners can see your speaking practice and level and decide whether to invite you to an interview.

On what basis. Your consent. When you register for Speak to Hire, you tick a box to confirm that you understand we will share these details with hiring partners when you finish. You cannot register for Speak to Hire without ticking it. Your consent covers Speak to Hire only; it does not change how we handle your data in the rest of the app.

What hiring partners do. Hiring partners use these details to decide whom to invite to an interview. Each partner runs its own interviews and makes its own hiring decisions. Speaking Genie does not decide who is interviewed or hired, and taking part in Speak to Hire does not promise you an interview or a job.

Hiring partners are separate organisations. Once they receive your details, they handle them under their own privacy policies.

How to withdraw. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing privacy@speakingenie.com from the email address you registered with. From then on, we stop sharing your details with hiring partners. If you withdraw before you finish, we will not introduce you to hiring partners.

Account Information

Name, email address, phone number and password, used to create your account and sign you in. If you register for Speak to Hire, we also collect the language you want to practice and your current level.

Speak to Hire results

Your practice hours, certificate, CEFR level, Commitment Score and final program results. We use them to run the program, and with your consent we share them with hiring partners (section 3.1).

Website forms

When you book a demo or contact us about Speak to Hire as a hiring partner, we collect the details you enter in the form. We use them only to reply to your request.

Website analytics and advertising

If you accept cookies in the banner on our website, Google Tag Manager loads Google Analytics and Meta's advertising tools (the Meta pixel and Meta's conversion measurement). Google and Meta then receive data about how you use the website, which we use to understand how the site is used and to measure our ads. Nothing loads if you decline. Our Cookie Policy explains these cookies.

Conversation Text

The text of your messages during AI language practice sessions — sent to our servers to generate AI responses. No personal data is included in these requests.

Learning Progress and Assessment Data

Your scores, completed lessons, and skill levels — stored on our servers to track your progress.

Usage Statistics

Interaction data such as session duration and feature usage — used to improve the app experience.

Device and Technical Information

Device type, operating system, and app version — used for troubleshooting and compatibility.

AI Conversations

Provide personalized AI-powered language learning conversations on our own servers.

Skill Analysis

Analyze and improve your pronunciation and language skills.

Progress Tracking

Track your learning progress and generate reports.

Speak to Hire introductions

With your consent, share your Speak to Hire results and contact details with hiring partners when you finish the program (section 3.1).

Service Improvement

Improve our app and AI services internally. We do not share data with third parties for this purpose.

Communications

Send important updates and notifications related to your account.

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encryption of sensitive information in transit and at rest.
  • Secure data storage and transmission.
  • Regular security audits and updates.
  • Access controls and authentication.
