Speaking Genie was founded by Ahmed Abosamra, co-founder for product, and Mahmoud Youssef, co-founder for technology. Both froze in English interviews, so they built AI speaking practice for learners who freeze when they speak. The company is headquartered in Cairo, Egypt, and graduated from the AI Venture Lab programme designed by INSEAD and Harvard Business School.
The first version was conversation only: a learner talking with an AI partner.
Week 1Centers told us: “We need metrics, not just chat.”
Week 2An automated grading dashboard, built on what the centers asked for in week 2.
Week 4Both were signed the week after the grading dashboard shipped.
The week afterWe take in a center’s syllabus and build role-plays for one unit of it, such as “Level 2, Chapter 4”.
A low-latency speech pipeline, aiming at sub-second responses, because lag breaks immersion.
Every call is scored on range, accuracy and fluency, with corrections that quote what the learner said.
